Granite has been the go-to kitchen/bathroom upgrade for many years. Now it seems like it is everywhere and is becoming as commonplace as stainless steel appliances. I have a client who told me that they don't care if the house has a perfect floor plan, in their choice neighborhood and offered for a great price, if it has granite in the kitchen, they won't buy it! Sounds a little extreme, I know, but is it really?
I was taught in design school that every style of home has elements that must be there to maintain the integrity of its design, which is what gives a home its character. Would you put granite in an updated farmhouse, or in a mid-century home where clean lines and subtle finishes rule the day? More often than not, savvy homebuyers will purchase the home that has the most to offer in terms of style and taste, and in many cases, granite doesn't offer that to them anymore. If you are thinking of updating your kitchen and bathroom, click on the link below to see the many alternatives to granite, and maybe you will find one that fits perfectly in your home.
